Chrome will start scanning for harmful software on your system that may be affecting your browsing experience. If any threats are detected, you can follow the on-screen instructions to remove them.

Not a full antivirus: Chrome’s scanner focuses on identifying software that directly affects your browsing experience (like malware or hijackers that modify Chrome settings). It won’t scan your entire computer for all types of malware, like an antivirus program would.

No real-time protection: Unlike full antivirus software, Chrome’s malware scanner does not provide real-time protection against threats.

To perform a more thorough scan of your computer, it’s best to use dedicated antivirus or anti-malware software, such as:

Windows Defender (built-in on Windows)

Malwarebytes

Bitdefender

These tools provide comprehensive scanning for a wide range of malware, viruses, and other threats, not just browser-related issues.
